The Wounded Warrior in Action Missouri Ducks and Bucks event benefits the soldiers who participate in three ways. First and most tangibly, it gives them an opportunity to waterfowl and deer hunt in Missouri that they may not otherwise have. Secondly, it offers outdoor recreational therapy to the soldiers. Many of the soldiers who have or who will be participating in this event are still technically on active military status. Upon their return to the states, many soldiers are assigned to Warrior Transition Units. While in these units, their “job” is to heal and get to a point where they can be productive in society or return to normal active duty. While in these units, soldiers are allowed to participate in events, such as the Wounded Warrior in Action Hunt, that give them an opportunity to heal both mentally and physically. Lastly, it gives the soldiers an opportunity to see that they are appreciated and their sacrifices have not been forgotten.
