This was the first Discover Nature Camp to be held in the Kansas City Region. It was held in June 2015 at the Camp Palestine in Johnson County.
The Discover Nature Girls Camp is a free, two-day girls camp held by the Missouri Department of Conservation. This camp introduces girls ages 11-15 to different outdoor skills. This camp gives them a supportive, learning environment to actively participate in “hands-on” outdoor skills. These activities will be led by experts in their field, which allow the participants to leave with the confidence to explore Missouri’s diverse nature on their own. The girls will be Hunter Education Certified after the camp so they may continue using their newly learned skills.
Some activities and skills they will participate in are:
Water Safety, Rifle Shooting , Dutch Oven Cooking, Archery, Tree Stand Safety, Safety Trail, Firearm Safety, Hunter Education, Canoeing, Fish ID, Equipment, Wildlife Conservation, and Fishing
