My seven-year-old son loves to fish, camp, kayak, hike and do pretty much anything outdoors. We find any opportunity we can to keep him active. Many people across the state don’t have access to nature like we do.
That’s why the Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation (MCHF) supports various opportunities to get kids outdoors. We need your help to continue to do that. It’s now more important than ever to instill confidence in our youth to be comfortable in nature. Your $50 gift helps provide supplies for a hunting or fishing clinic. A $100 gift will fund a young person’s week at a Nature Camp. I encourage you to help us cultivate tomorrow’s outdoorsman!
– Tricia Burkhardt, MCHF Interim Director
It is common these days to see young people glued to an electronic device, oblivious to activities going on around them. What happened to children spending countless hours exploring the outdoors?
One of the fundamental goals of the Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation (MCHF) is providing opportunities for youth to learn various outdoor skills and to adopt outdoor recreation as a way of life. To this end, MCHF has provided funding for a plethora of events for kids and teens since 1997. A partial list of such events include:
- Nature day camps and overnight camps,
- Turkey, waterfowl, game bird, and deer hunts with mentors,
- Hunting clinics,
- Fishing days at state conservation areas and trout parks,
- Fishing clinics,
- Missouri National Archery in the Schools Program,
- Archery equipment for city and county park programs,
- Outdoor fun days for families,
- Outdoor education programs through participating schools, and
- Nature schools programming.
