The Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation (MCHF) is a nonprofit, charitable organization helping to meet the financial needs placed on natural resource conservation and conservation-related outdoor recreation in Missouri. MCHF works with the Missouri Department of Conservation and other natural resource and conservation partners to advance the conservation and appreciation of forest, fish and wildlife resources.

Located in Jefferson City, Missouri’s state capital and just north of the Ozarks, MCHF seeks an Executive Director to provide strategic direction, fundraising leadership and administrative oversight to the programs and projects that further the mission of MCHF with the following primary responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to engage donors and partners to support conservation projects throughout Missouri.
  • Coordinate activities, programs and meetings for the MCHF Board of Directors (Board) and participate on key committees.
  • Supervise, delegate assignments and evaluate performance for MCHF staff.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between MCHF and the staff of the Missouri Department of Conservation and other partners.
  • Prepare annual budget and provide financial oversight to include tracking accounts receivable and accounts payable, the investment portfolio and project/grant balances. Prepare quarterly financial statements for Board review and make finance-related recommendations for action by the Board.
  • Coordinate project selection and subsequent funding for projects involving outdoor education and outreach as well as forest, fish and wildlife research and management activities.
  • Direct and coordinate the Stream Stewardship Trust Fund, an in-lieu fee mitigation program administered in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Missouri Department of Conservation.
  • Conduct other duties as required.

The successful candidate will have a strong conservation ethic, be a self-starter who has the ability to work independently as well as part of a team and is driven to succeed. Additional qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • A background in non-profit operations, to include supervisory experience
  • Proven record of successful fund raising to include annual giving, major gifts and gift planning.
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship and team building skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, donors, partners and the public.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge of conservation, natural resource management and public involvement, experience in state or federal natural resource programs or a strong personal interest in outdoor conservation activities.

Salary: Negotiable and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
