7th Annual Peterson Outdoors Wounded Warrior Deer Hunt

Over the last seven years, Peterson Outdoors has helped nearly 200 wounded warriors, as well as other children and adults with disabilities, and their families get out and enjoy hunting and fishing. This event is a special deer hunt for US servicemen and women who have been wounded in combat in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Vietnam. Last year 12 servicemen and women participated in the event and 12 more are expected for the 2015 deer hunt. MDC employees and volunteers, as well as volunteers from Peterson Outdoors and the community work to make the event a success.

Each hunter will be accompanied by a professional videographer. In the past, footage from these hunts has been used to produce nationally syndicated hunting shows as well as online based hunting shows. These programs have focused on the importance of spending and enjoying time outdoors.

These hunts benefit the participants by giving them an opportunity to hunt in Missouri, where they may not otherwise have. It allows them to transition from active duty and heals them – both mentally and physically and to assist in getting them to a point where they can be productive in society or return to normal active duty. It provides an opportunity to show appreciation to these warriors and that their sacrifices have not been forgotten.
