With Stream Stewardship Trust Fund dollars, MCHF was able to pay for 22% of the purchase price of this 275-acre tract of land along the Niangua River, which includes more than a mile of Niangua River frontage. The Niangua River is a popular flaoting and fishing stream, is home to some highly diverse and unusual aquatic communities and provides habitat to several aquatic species of conservation concern. In addition, the acquisition offers an opportunity to conserve more than 36 acres of mesic bottomland forest and conserve habitats for the cerulean warbler. The Niangua basin is a Conservation Opportunity Area.
