Restoration of Pleasant Run Creek Prairie

Pleasant Run Creek Prairie is within the Cherokee Grasslands Conservation Opportunity (COA), immediately adjacent to Missouri Prairie Foundation's (MPF) 320-acre prairie Denison Prairie and .25 acre from MPFs Lattner Prairie.

This grant will be used to hire a contractor to girdle or cut appropriate trees and brush from the riparian corridor, two tree islands, and along fence rows at MPFs 180-acre Pleasant Run Creek Prairie. This tree removal will improve both the high quality prairie and degraded grasslands habitat portions to benefit prairie plants, insects, grassland birds, and other prairie-dependent species.
