Troublesome Creek Protection

Stream Stewardship Trust Funds paid for a conservation easement on properties bordering Troublesome Creek, a major tributary of the South Fabius River. This project involves 100.8 riparian acres in Marion County. This project protects this quality stream reach, which contains a mature wooded corridor and enhances MDC's McPike Access. The Marion county portion of the South Fabius watershed includes four previously signed permanent Stream Stewardship Agreements, two permanent U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Conservation Easements and three other MDC stream accesses protecting all or part of approximately 6.5 miles of stream. The watershed also includes the Troublesome and Grassy Creek PL-56 watershed structure project. SSTF dollars provided the sole funds for this land purchase.
