This project leverages existing partnership with Friends of LaBarque Creek Watershed Coalition and the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) to implement community-based management of LaBarque Creek Conservation Area (CA), specifically targeting LaBarque Creek CA, Young CA and Glassberg Family CA through the Operation Wild Lands (OWLs) program.
LaBarque Creek Watershed Protection
Stream Stewardship Trust Funds in the amount of $13,250 were used to purchase a 5.87-acre tract of land adjacent to the Young Conservation Area in Jefferson County. The tract includes a section of LaBarque Creek, a Missouri Department of Conservation-identified priority watershed threatened with development. EPA funds of $19,250 were also applied toward this purchase.

LaBarque Creek Watershed Land Acquisition
Stream Stewarship Trust Funds in the amount of $181,500 were used to acquire a 200-acre tract of land with 2,400 feet of Labarque Creek, a permanently flowing Ozark Border stream supporting 42 species of fish. The purchase furthers Labarque Creek watershed protection goals.
