Carter County Stream Protection Projects

MCHF allocated Stream Stewardship Trust Funds for cattle exclusion, streambank stabilization, improved cattle crossings, riparian corridor protection & re-establishment, and alternative watering installation. Partner funds ($30,076) from Carter County Soil and Water Conservation District, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and Missouri Department of Transportation. Perpetual easement.

Whitewater River Stream Stabilization

MCHF allocated Stream Stewardship Trust Funds for the installation of bendway weirs or structures to stabilize the stream bank of the Whitewater River in Cape Girardeau County. 20-acre Permanent Easement.

Little Dry Fork Stream Stabilization

MCHF allocated Stream Stewardship Trust Funds for Little Dry Fork Stream Stabilization – Rock for the longitudinal peaked stone toe, toe rock stabilization structure, & livestock limited access point.

Prairie Fork CA Projects

MCHF funds provided for facilities enchancement including installation of frost free hydrant, riparian buffer tree planting, south gable construction of Prairie Fork office, Prairie Restoration Seed Project supplies, plants and seeds for Prairie Fork Restoration Project, and ground blinds for disabled hunts.

Hellbender Rearing

Dissolved oxygen probe used to measure oxygen concentration at Shepherd of the Hills Hatchery inthe locations that hellbenders are being raised.
