The Open Outdoor 3D Archery Tournament is a one-day family-friendly fundraiser to support Missouri youth archery and outdoor programs. This Tournament is unique as it is our only tournament open to the public! This includes all ages, experience, backgrounds and skill levels. Participants love that they are able to shoot alongside a wide variety of archers from different backgrounds such as NASP participants, coaches, parents, community members, Archery Influencers and semi-professionals, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts. Coaches and parents from the NASP program especially love the opportunity to shoot alongside their students in a fun day outside at a beautiful venue!

Logistics, Course Details & Rules
- Competitors will shoot on both the North Target Trail and South Target Trail at Mark Twain Archery Park, with 20 targets on each range, totaling 40 targets.
- The archery course is directional and each archery target will be shot in order for safety.
- Max group size is 5 shooters. Minimum group size is 3. If you are attending the event by yourself and would like to shoot with a group, you can ask to join others or contact the MCHF office for help at 800.227.1488. You will find that most archers are very friendly and always willing to join up with someone new!
- There are no assigned group start times or pairings.
- Non-shooter spectators are allowed to walk the range and watch free of charge, as long as they stay on the walk way path.
- There will be a yardage sheet provided at registration and range finders are also allowed.
- Each archer will shoot 1 arrow per target and the scoring will be as follows: 12, 10, 8, 5, 0.
- Scoring – Targets are Delta McKenzie. The low back 12 ring is scored unless the upper 12 ring is “called.” Middle scoring ring counts as 10 points. The 14 ring is not in play. For an example, see the ASA 3D Archery Scoring Rings.
- In the Cub Division, archers will be scored on their top course between the North Target Trail and the South Target Trail. This should allow for more flexibility with young archers, while also preserving the fun of healthy competition.
- In the event of inclement weather, we will shoot rain or shine. The only foreseeable circumstance that will result in closing the range is flooding or lightning. In the event of lightning, we will close the range until the storm passes and reopen as soon as we can confirm that it is safe to shoot. If we have to cancel due to flooding or other acts of nature, refunds will be issued accordingly.
- There will be water stations located throughout both ranges.
- Preregistrations closes at 5 PM on Monday, Aug. 12. We will have open registration the morning of the event. Cost for all divisions will increase $10 after preregistration closes.
Prizes, Awards & Special Challenges
- Each registered competitor will receive an event t-shirt and water bottle, sponsored by Tyson Foods, Inc, with preregistration and automatically be entered in to win special door prizes. Participants will not be able to switch t-shirt sizes the day of.
- Top finisher medals will be given for 1st – 3rd place for each male and female divisions. These will be handed out that evening at ~4:00 PM during the awards ceremony. The Championship division winners will receive cash! Scores from regular shoot will determine archer’s place in the purse. If archers tie, the number of bullseyes during the 40-target shoot will determine their place. If there is still a tie, each archer will shoot one arrow and the closest to the bullseye will win. See championship payouts.
- A special Iron Buck Challenge, sponsored by Reading Farms USA will be available for those who dare to participate! For the Iron Buck Challenge, shoot an arrow through a hole in an iron deer target at 20 yards. If you miss and hit iron, your arrow will shatter. If archers tie, each round will be 5 yards farther than the last. The last archer left standing wins. This game requires a $10 donation to participate. The winner of the Iron Buck Challenge receives a range finder, sponsored by Reading Farms USA.
- A special Youth Challenge (new this year!), sponsored by Creed Archery, with be available for youth 14 & under to enjoy their own special challenge! For the Youth Challenge, youth archers 14 & under will receive 2 tickets at check-in, good for two rounds of fun to try to pop a balloon. The archer gets 5 arrows per round and will be able to select a prize once the balloon has popped, for up to two total prizes. The Youth Challenge is free to participate in for all registered youth archers.
