The goal of this project is to restore 100% pure Ozark Chinquapin chestnuts to the Ozarks hills. This goal is lofty but possible due to discovery of trees that show varying degrees of resistance to the blight. Those resistant trees have their pollen collected so it can be cross-pollinated with other trees that share blight resistance elsewhere in the Ozarks. Restoration of this Ozarks version is important because the trees are a vital part of Ozarks biodiversity.
