The Peterson Outdoors Wounded Warrior Hunt is one of many events that are coordinated by a non-profit organization called Peterson Outdoor Ministries (POM). Over the last six years, Peterson Outdoors has helped over 150 Wounded Warriors, as well as other children and adults with disabilities and their families get out and enjoy hunting and fishing. This event is a special deer hunt for US servicemen and women who have been wounded in combat in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Viet Nam. Last year 12 servicemen participated in the event and 12-15 are expected for the 2014 deer hunt. The Wounded Warrior Hunt benefits participants as it gives them an opportunity to deer hunt in Missouri that they may not otherwise have. It offers them outdoor recreational therapy. And, it gives the soldiers an opportunity to see they are appreciated and their sacrifices have not been forgotten.
