Missouri River Relief, Inc. (MRR) is a non-profit organization in Columbia, Missouri. Their mission is to connect people to the Missouri River through hands-on river cleanups, education events and stewardship activities. MRR is hosting the 2nd Annual Big River Experience as part of the Summers@Mizzou Program. The camp will take place at Eagle Bluffs Conservation Area and wetlands on the Missouri River outside of Huntsville, MO. the goal is to get attendees into the outdoors and out of the traditional education framework.
This program will allow MRR to begin a MCHF Big River Experience Scholarship Program to make the camp more accessible for students that do not have the monetary resources to attend. These scholarships would expand this camp to reach at-risk, low-income students that do not get many opportunities to experience the outdoors.
This project supports the MCHF mission and objectives by promoting conservation, recruiting new outdoors users, promoting environmental awareness, understanding and appreciation of Missouri’s natural resources and conservation heritage, and attracting and engaging new and existing partnerships. Target audience is students ages 14-18 throughout Missouri, the recruiting network of the University of Missouri and Extension 4-H programs.
