Drive with pride

platesWhen you purchase Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation license plates, you show your proud support for Missouri’s fish, forestry and wildlife programs. You also help our next generation learn how to conserve, manage and use these resources. Funds from the plates enhance nature centers, outdoor classrooms, stream teams, wildlife habitat and other conservation programs. You may choose a bald eagle, bluebird or deer plate.

Each of the three animals depicted on the plates tells a story about conservation challenges, environmental success and the responsibility of Missourians to ensure the continued presence of wildlife species in our state.

Plates of the eagle, bluebird and deer are available in both personalized and stock versions. The plates are available for passenger vehicles, motorcycles and commercial vehicles of 6,000 lb., 12,000 lb. or 18,000 lb. gross vehicle weight.

You may order your plates any time, regardless of your current license plate expiration date, although all Missouri specialty plates expire in July. For this reason, for first-time conservation plate holders, we encourage purchasing plates during the first half of the year. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

How Do I Get These Plates?

STEP 1:  To order the plate of your choice, first you need to purchase a “Conservation Heritage Plate Emblem Use Authorization Form (EUA).” A one-year form for $25 and a two-year form for $50 are both available. (Confirm your two-year eligibility with the Department of Revenue prior to making a donation; donations are not refundable.) The EUA form is a receipt for your tax-deductible donation to the Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation. It also is your proof of donation that is required to order a plate from the Missouri Department of Revenue.

This authorization will expire 180 days after the purchase date, so be sure to order your Conservation plates soon after obtaining your authorization.

You can get your EUA one of four ways:

A.  Immediately ONLINE by following this link. You will be redirected to Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) online permit system.  The EUA is actually sold as a type of permit, just like your hunting or fishing permit.  After you read through the instructions on MDC’s permit system page, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on the blue box that says, “Buy Permits.”

You will then enter information in a section called, “Tell us who you are.”  The next step is entitled, “Choose your permits.”  Scroll down toward the bottom of the screen and select “1 year Conservation License Plate Authorization – $25”  OR “2 year Conservation License Plate Authorization – $50.”

After choosing one of these you can proceed to view and print your Conservation License Plate Authorization (also known as EUA).

B. By VENDOR – visit a Department of Conservation hunting or fishing permit vendor, including Conservation Nature Centers and many Missouri Department of Conservation offices. The vendor will print and give you the EUA upon purchase.

C.  By PHONE during regular office hours at 1-800-392-4115 to pay by credit card (Mastercard, Visa or Discover).

D. By MAIL by sending a check ($25 for one year, $50 for two years) and this form to Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation, P.O. Box 366, Jefferson City, MO 65102-0366.

In all cases you must take a printed copy of your EUA with you to the DOR office to purchase or renew your plates.

You must purchase a separate EUA for each vehicle you display a Conservation plate. If you purchase the two-year plate, save your returned authorization form to renew your annual tags (confirm your two-year eligibility with the Department of Revenue prior to making a donation; donations are not refundable). If you purchase the two-year plate, save your returned authorization form to renew your annual tags the second year.

  • Example on how the expiration on plates works if you are purchasing your conservation plate for the first time:
    • If your regular plates are expiring in February 2016 and you are picking up your Conservation plate for the first time:
      • One year registration – would pay your $25 (one year) and receive the EUA which would be good until July 2017.
      • Two year registration – would pay your $50 (two year) and receive the EUA which would be good until July 2018.

STEP 2: Next, contact the Missouri Department of Revenue for a specialty license plate application ($15 annual fee applies), and complete the purchasing process with them. You will need to mail the Department of Revenue your EUA, your specialty license plate application and your payment of $15.00.

The Department of Revenue will notify you by mail when your plates are ready to pick up from your local license office.
