Archers of all ages and classes had a great time testing their archery skills against the forest. No matter how green or experienced with a bow, there was fun to be had by all shooting at targets such as deer, bear, turkey, coyote and more!
Saturday, Aug. 12, archers of all ages and shooting levels came together for fun competition at Mark Twain Lake’s Archery Range. Multiple divisions and categories were available, including bowhunters, traditional, compound and NASP. With two ranges, 40 total targets and fun challenge games, this is bound to be an unforgettable experience. Proceeds from the event support conservation programs in Missouri.
General Information
- The Open Outdoor 3D Archery Tournament is a one-day family-friendly fundraiser to support Missouri youth archery and outdoor programs. Competitors will shoot on both North Target Trail and South Target Trail, with 20 targets on each range totaling 40 targets.
Each competitor will receive two items and automatically entered into an archery package door prize with their entry fee: an event T-shirt sponsored by Hannibal CVB and a water bottle sponsored by Tyson Foods. Water bottles will be cleaned prior to the event so you can use them that day!
- Each target trail must be shot in order. For safety and courtesy reasons, please do not shoot targets in reverse order. If there is a way to safely go around a back-up and skip a target or two, you may do that. When you return to shoot the targets you skipped, please start from the beginning of the range. Always be aware of other shooters around you.
- The max group size at the tournament is 5 shooters. Minimum group size is 3. If you are attending the event by yourself and would like to shoot with a group, you can ask to join others or contact the MCHF office to help you find a group, 800.227.1488. You will find that most archers are very friendly and always willing to join up with someone new!
- There are no assigned group start times or pairings.
- The event will also feature an Iron Buck Challenge. Shoot an arrow through a hole in an iron deer target at 20 yards. If you miss your arrow will shatter. If archers tie, each round will be 5 yards farther than the last. The last archer left standing wins. The winner will receive a Tactacam camera with mount, valued at$400! This game is $10 to particpate.
- Non-shooter spectators are allowed to walk the range and watch free of charge, as long as they stay on the walk way path.
- There will be a yardage sheet provided at registration and range finders are also allowed.
- Each archer will shoot 1 arrow per target and the scoring will be as follows: 12, 10, 8, 5, 0.
- Top finisher medals will be given for 1st – 3rd place for each male and female divisions. The Championship division winners will receive cash. Scores from regular shoot will determine archer’s place in the purse. See championship payouts.
- In the event of inclement weather, we will shoot rain or shine. The only foreseeable circumstance that will result in closing the range is flooding or lightning. In the event of lightning, we will close the range until the storm passes and reopen as soon as we can confirm that it is safe to shoot. If we have to cancel due to flooding or other acts of nature, refunds will be issued accordingly.
- There will be water stations located throughout both ranges.
- Preregistrations closes at 5 PM on Sat., Aug. 5. If spots are still available, we will have open registration the morning of the event. Cost for all divisions will increase $10 after preregistration closes.
Please note: This is a two-step registration. Once you preregister and pay through MCHF, you will need to also register through the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) in order to participate and compete Aug. 12. You only need to pay once and you will be given a link on your payment confirmation page AND email to complete your registration. When completing your registration through MDC, please register all participants you paid for.
