The St. Louis Region’s fourth annual Discover Nature Girls Camp was a huge success! There were 65 girls and eight chaperones, and all the girlswere Hunter Education certified by the end of camp. In just four years St. Louis Region has Hunter Education certified approximately 240 girls through these camps. This helps to meet Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC’s) goal of hunter recruitment and outreach.
MDC also accomplished its goal to have a girl’s camp in all of its eight regions of the state. This was the first year to have camp in all eight MDC regions. The main goal is to introduce young ladies to a variety of outdoor activities and become Hunter Education certified. This was accomplished, along with three days full of outdoor activities!
Cabela’s Outdoor Fund provided a grant for $4,100 to help with the St. Louis camp, with additional support provided several other sponsors and MCHF.
