(MISSOURI, Aug. 21, 2026) – The Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation (MCHF) is pleased to announce State Technical College of Missouri (State Tech) as a new Corporate Sponsor. Through this partnership, we share a commitment to getting people outdoors, connecting Missourians with outdoor recreation, and investing in the next generation of professionals.
The partnership brings together two organizations with complementary missions. MCHF works to advance the conservation and appreciation of Missouri’s forest, fish and wildlife resources, while State Tech provides hands-on, industry-driven education designed to prepare students for high-demand careers and strengthen Missouri’s workforce.
“We’re excited to partner with the Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation and support the important work they’re doing across our state,” said Brandon McElwain, State Tech’s Director of Marketing. “At State Tech, we believe some of the best learning and some of the best experiences happen when you get outside. This partnership is a natural fit for who we are, connecting people with Missouri’s outdoors while preparing the next generation of skilled professionals who will help build, maintain and support our communities for years to come.”
MCHF’s Corporate Sponsorship Program provides community businesses and organizations with opportunities to support conservation while engaging with MCHF events and outreach throughout the year. For State Tech and MCHF, that relationship expands beyond financial support. Both organizations recognize that getting people outside is an important first step in developing an appreciation for Missouri’s natural resources – and that strong outdoor communities need experienced professionals who can support the infrastructure, businesses and programs connected to those resources.
State Tech already has plentiful outdoor opportunities on its campus situated in the rolling hills of Linn, Missouri. Lake State Tech, an eight-acre campus lake open to students and the public alike, provides opportunities for swimming, fishing, kayaking and just spending time outside with friends. The lake is stocked with bass, catfish and bluegill and includes a boat ramp, dock and more than a half-mile walking trail.
State Tech also has an active Fishing Club and Club Team. The club’s mission is to bring together students with a shared passion for fishing, promote responsible angling, and provide opportunities for both casual and competitive fishing. Its Shooting Sports Team is another fun and competitive group where students can improve their skills in different shooting methods like trap, skeet and sporting clays. Eventually, State Tech plans to start an archery club on campus, aligning with one of MCHF’s major focuses.
“State Tech has already created opportunities for students to experience the outdoors as part of campus life, and we see tremendous potential to build on that foundation,” said Tricia Burkhardt, executive director of the Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation. “MCHF and State Tech are a natural fit because we share the belief that getting people outside creates a lifelong connection to Missouri’s natural resources. At the same time, we need to invest in the people who will build the future of Missouri’s outdoor economy and conservation community. State Tech’s focus on hands-on education and career preparation makes this partnership an exciting opportunity to connect outdoor experiences with career pathways.”
The partnership will also create opportunities for MCHF and State Tech to connect with prospective students and families. For example, the two organizations have a history of partnering at the MoNASP State Archery Championship, co-hosted by MCHF and the Missouri Department of Conservation. Youth archers get to try out State Tech’s mobile promotional trailer to showcase hands-on technical programs, equipment and career opportunities. State Tech will also host its Show-Me State Tech Open House on Saturday, October 24, 2026, with campus tours, meet-and-greets with instructors, and information about academic programs. The event is open to anyone interested in exploring State Tech.
MCHF is also planning to host an archery tournament at State Tech Activity Center March 6, 2027. This tournament will support the Share the Harvest program, a community-driven initiative that allows hunters to donate venison to families in need.
Ultimately, the partnership between MCHF and State Tech is about creating more opportunities for people to experience Missouri’s outdoors while helping prepare the individuals who will shape the state’s future. We can’t wait to see where this collaboration leads us in our pursuit of protecting Missouri’s natural places.

The Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1997 to support the conservation and appreciation of Missouri’s natural resources.
