Columbia Public Schools recently started an outdoor education program at the community’s three public high schools. With the assistance of the Conservation Department, the program will focus on the following activities: Missouri National Archery in the Schools, hunter education, fishing, map and compass reading, camping, backpacking, hiking, and shooting sports. To date, the classes have been well-received by students. To support the ongoing effort, funds are requested to purchase outdoor skills equipment (i.e., fishing rods, tents, backpacks, bows, targets, etc.). The equipment will be shared amongst the three high schools.
