Cooley Lake Managed Waterfowl Hunt

Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is partnering with local not-for-profit groups to host two managed waterfowl clinics and hunts at Cooley Lake during the 2015 waterfowl season. This will be the first time an event like this is held at Cooley Lake. Staff will work with novice youth hunters on duck ID, proper wing shooting, and other important items. Youth hunters will be taken out with volunteer mentors for a managed waterfowl hunt on Cooley Lake. In addition, during the regular portion of the waterfowl season, MDC and the Foundation for Exceptional Warriors (FEW) staff will hold a half day clinic and a two-day hunt for decorated exceptional warriors and their children.

Waterfowl hunting is only allowed at Cooley Lake CA through managed hunts. This request will provide funds to purchase supplies to build five wooden duck blinds with platforms to be used for these two weekend events and events that will occur in the future. When these blinds are not being used during the events, they will be available to be utilized by wildlife views year-round on the marsh.
